Applied Materials Technolgy

Materials technology is one of the core competences of DNV. The objectives of the Materials programme are to carry out research and innovation based on materials, and the work done in the Materials programme will help to keep DNV in the forefront. The Materials research is in response to significant trends:

• New challenges in materials technology due to climate change
• Industrial use of multifunctional materials
• Advances in sensor technology including communication in sensor networks

The aim is to identify the implications of those trends for DNV and its customers and develop new knowledge and services

Materials challenges connected to climate change

Energy generation using clean technologies to reduce net CO2 emissions to the atmosphere has generated a lot of interest in recent years

Advanced Materials and Coatings

The objective is to utilize recent developments in materials technology and a deeper understanding of underlying scientific principles for improvements in e.g. corrosion protection
